Gladys Mínguez is a Senior Lecturer at the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences with a specialization in Fundamental Physics and her doctoral thesis in the Optics PhD program at the University of Valencia.
She is currently a researcher in the Optics section of INIT.
She has completed a total of two years of research stays at other research centers, including Purdue University (United States), FernUniversität in Hagen (Germany), and the Institute of Applied Optics (Poland). She currently holds 2 six-year research periods and 2 five-year teaching periods.
She has been teaching at the Universitat Jaume I for over a decade, covering various subjects related to Physics, Optics, and Lasers, at both undergraduate and master’s levels.
She has participated in 16 educational improvement projects and has presented over 20 contributions to teaching innovation conferences.
She is the co-author of more than 45 scientific articles in indexed journals, 2 book chapters, and over 80 conference presentations, all related to optics and the applications of femtosecond lasers.

Carlos Doñate Buendia (Castellón, 1992) received the Physics B.Sc. in 2014 and the Advanced Physics M.Sc. (Material Sciences and Photonics speciality) in 2015, both from the University of Valencia. After that, he obtained the Applied Physics M. Sc. in 2015 at the University Jaume I. He defended his PhD thesis in Dec. 2019, distinguished with the international mention and Summa Cum Laude. In Jan. 2020 he joined Prof. Barcikowski's group at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany) as a postdoc, becoming junior group leader in May 2020. In Apr. 2021 he moved to Prof. Gökce's new chair at the University of Wuppertal, where he was the “Particles and Additive Manufacturing of Polymers” group leader, supervising and acquiring funding for a team of 5 PhD students. In November 2023 he was granted by Generalitat Valenciana (GenT plan) a “CDEIGENT” distinguished researcher position at university Jaume I to develop the project “Nanoparticle based smart materials produced by additive manufacturing”. This project is enabling to develop a new additive manufacturing for smart materials research line at University Jaume I.
His research has evolved from ultrafast pulse characterization (B. Sc. and Advanced Physics M. Sc.), and beam shaping (M.Sc. Applied Physics), to nanoparticle generation by pulsed laser ablation in liquids (PhD) and the application of the synthesized nanomaterials to produce metallic and polymeric materials with new or enhanced optical, mechanical, and/or magnetic functionalities by additive manufacturing (Postdoc). The combination of these fields have led to a fruitful interdisciplinary research with 75% of his scientific production carried out in the framework of international collaborations with 24 researchers of 7 different nationalities. He participated in the SPP 2122 DFG priority programme, and the CRC/TRR 270 projects supervising 2 young researchers. He has supervised a master thesis, 2 bachelor theses, 3 engineering projects already completed and is currently supervising 5 PhD theses in development.
He has been member during his PhD of student chapters from Optica, SPIE and EPS, carrying out outreach activities in schools, and high schools. From 2020-2023, he was the social media officer of the Optica Ultrafast Technical Group, promoting outreach events through https://twitter.com/DonateBuendia and approaching science to the society.
